The Idea Behind

The Arabic phrase صنع بسحرك (ṣuniʿa bi-siḥirka), translates to ”made with your magic” and has eight Arabic letters, each corresponds to the first letter of one of eight most common traditional Arabic melodic modes (Arabic: مقام, romanized: maqām; pl. مقامات maqāmāt).
This bookmark collection artistically spells out the phrase over two lines and subtly embeds abstract silhouettes of geography; Inspired by (left to right): Jordan’s Um Fruth Rock Arch, Saudi Arabia’s Elephant Rock, Syria’s Coastal Mountain Range and Lebanon’s Mount Lebanon.
